Refreshing Otaheiti Apple Juice
Ingredients
- 8 cups ripe Otaheiti apples (chopped, skin on)
- 8 cups cold water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh ginger root
- Juice of 3 limes
Cooking Directions
- 1. Thoroughly wash and chop the Otaheiti apples, leaving the skin on to enhance the flavor.
- 2. Combine the chopped apples, cold water, sugar, ginger, and lime juice in a large saucepan.
- 3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes to extract all the flavors.
- 4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, pressing the solids to extract as much juice as possible.
- 5. Chill the freshly strained juice in the refrigerator.
- 6. Serve the apple juice cold over ice and enjoy this refreshing tropical drink!
